Das Einsatzprojekt

Anita’s Memorial Day care-center is an initiative established to honor dreams and vision of a young lady the Late Anita Mlay who has an intention to establish children center to support vulnerable children in her community but she passed away at a very early age before realizing her dream. The day care is a registered entity by the Government operating in the small town of Usa River.
Child Safer place of Anitas’ memorial is a project aiming to increase the overall wellbeing of the children in the community through various approaches. The overall goal is; to provide a safe place for children of all ability during the day to spend their time while their parents are in work. To provide accessible quality services for children from low-income families and children with all abilities as well as children in  vulnerable living situations.

Die Aufgaben der*des Freiwilligen

▪ To assist in training children to understand basic social skills that will help them to interact well with other people, manner etc.
▪ To assist monitoring of children to ensure they remain safe as they go about their activities. 

▪ To assist in organizing activities which will help the kids to relax but also learn. This may include games, sports, Arts, Craft, Music classes, Movie/ cartoon watching etc.

Anforderungen

• English language skills and an interest to learn the local Language (Kiswahili). Language classes will be provided.
• Interest to work with children & Teens with special needs
• Open minded and ready to be challenged
• Interested in other cultures and local realities
• Patient and committed, Creative and easy to adopt to the situations
• Have a skills and knowledge on the subjects wishing to teach
• Basics on sign Language must be useful during the work
• Proved integrity to work with children and Teenagers (Criminal clearance Certificate will be required from the Country of Origin)

Einsatzort/Unterkunft

Usa river is a small town located about 23km east of Arusha city and almost the same distance west of Kilimanjaro International airport. It serves as the district capital of Arumeru District in the Arusha Region. The town is known for its mix of local residents and expatriates, with many involved in tourism and agriculture. It's a growing community with a friendly atmosphere and a reasonable cost of living. Usa River acts as a gateway to nearby attractions like Arusha National Park and Mount Meru the second highest mountain in Tanzania.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in the host family within the community where basic accommodation facilities will be provided. Expect to share room with either host family member or other volunteer from the same or other projects.

Food: Food will be provided at the project accommodation. Vegetarian meals will be available. Volunteers are expected to participate in preparation of meals with their host.
